Core Web Vitals are three user experience metrics โ LCP, INP, and CLS โ that Google uses as direct search ranking signals since 2021. LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) measures how quickly the main content of a page loads. INP (Interaction to Next Paint) measures responsiveness to user clicks, taps, and key presses across the entire page lifecycle. CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) measures visual stability by quantifying unexpected layout shifts. In March 2024, Google officially replaced FID (First Input Delay) with INP as the responsiveness metric. To pass Google's Core Web Vitals assessment, all three metrics must be in the Good range.
